Web Publishers to move beyond Banner ads
Twenty-seven large publishers are introducing three new types of online display ads. The new formats are meant to reduce clutter and provide more visibility.
One of this is the “pushdown,” 970 pixels wide by 418 tall on the page. What this ad space would do is when the page opens, the pushdown ad will expand downward, and then roll up to the top of the page.
The second new format is the “fixed panel,” 336 wide and 860 tall pixels which will scroll with the user based on which part of the content the user is viewing.
The third format is the “XXL Box,” a 468 x 648 window that includes video and other interactive elements to get readers attention
