How to get your website built when search engine is key

March 16th, 2009 | 2 Comments | Posted in Digital News, Web Talks

So you are a web startup and you need to get to be known when people are looking for your service. Well welcome to the world of search engine optimization. Its true no matter how good your product or service is if you don’t have a huge marketing budget to throw away you need to resort to smart search engine tactics. I am no guru in this field and if any SEO consultant assures you that they can get you on the first page of google please pack your bags and run.

A few steps you need to keep in mind

  • If you are about to launch your service say in the next 3 months. Then have a website all setup prior to launch as it takes approx 6 months for your website to be featured on Google
  • Make a list of the possible search terms that you feel your audience would find you with. Make atleast 15 to 20 of these search terms and then write content based on theses search terms. Yes yes Content is still King so you need your website to be updated regularly for search bots to visit you.
  • Keep your focus on Google as most people use Google for their search words
  • Have a blog that speaks about your service or product features on a regular basis so that you attract organice traffic
  • Last but not the least do keep a small budget for internet advertising such as google adwords. Make sure you set your goals in Google Analytics so that you can monitor your conversion rates and if your SEO is indeed successful
  • All the best and please do leave feedback.
