What’s the point of having a facebook page you may ask. In social media everyone keeps harping about how you need to have that facebook page. You have gone ahead and created one but there is no one buzzing around it. I know the frustration and I sympathize with you. It’s all ok for me to sit in my home office and talk about all the wow factors that Dell has been able to achieve with their page or how Coco Cola was able to do it. How do you go about creating that same buzz. The short answer is you are not alone there are many in the same boat. Today let’s just zap out of that crazy struggling world and give it another short. Let’s create some momentum with getting your page recognized. Are you ready…. Promise me you will listen… promise me you won’t be a miser to spend a bit… promise me you will think about your facebook page with an open mind. Now since we are done with all the promises and we are all set to get going let’s begin

Facebook pages receive a lot of search engine respect. So even if you have no one in your fans list don’t worry they will join you. The key hear is to receive quality fans who love you for you. Who cares about those fans who are just there to get something from you.

This Post focuses on

  1. Creating your facebook page – the basics
  2. Creating the Initial Momentum

I shall be expanding the facebook how to’s in the series that follow – baby steps is all i ask of you

If you have no Idea how to create a Facebook Page

  • Find the Facebook “Ads and Pages” section
  • The next page Click on Pages
  • The Click Create Page
  • Categorize and Name your facebook Page – Make sure to choose the right category here as facebook has decided that you only have one go at this step.

On the Facebook Page creation dashboard, you’ll be faced with three categories of drop-down menus. Each menu has a selection of sub-categories.
    Customise your facebook Page

  • Click the Edit Page
  • Go through each section and choose the settings that you require
  • For the Wall Settings initially since you may not have a custom Welcome page choose the following as shown in the image
  • Let the default applications remain on your facebook page
  • The next step is to complete your profile, just follow the Get Started Steps to get your basic profile up to speed
  • Once the Get Started Section has been completed click on the Info tab and have the Basic Information completed
  • Next Create a Photo Album with images arrange your Albums based on your product or service. So for example if you are a consultant you could have images of your team, your vision, mission, any events you have spoken at, etc
  • You can add more tabs based on what content you have ready such as Videos, Discussions, Links, etc
  • The part where you will have to spend some money
Custom facebook static page: Initially you your fans to get to know you and the easiest way is to have an attractive page. If you know HTML you can do this yourself but if you don’t then please just get someone else to do this for you.

In my ebook- The Art of Social Media the Minimalist Way from memory go to page 26, there is a complete section with tips and applications that you can use to enhance your facebook fan page.

Once we are done with the facebook Page how do we get people to Like you

Here are a few steps that I have been experimenting with lately

    All your Wall Posts need to be of Quality;
You don’t need a rocket engineer to tell you this and I know what you would be thinking what is quality zuricka?

    Step 1:

    1. Post a good movie Review about a movie that you and your team may have gone for
    2. Post something someone else wrote and why it caught your attention by do credit the author
    3. provide one tip at least every day about how your service or product could change people’s lives
    4. Upload some lovely pictures that you may have clicked while on your drive back home or images that you saw on flickr about day life. Give credit to Images and make sure they are all Creative Commons
    5. Post a video about engaging your audience
    6. Talk about a community event that’s happening in your local area and what’s so great about your local community
7.Post testimonials about what client’s are talking about
    8. Share Historical facts about your Niche
    The list is endless

    Step 2:
Those who Join your fan page and contribute reward them. This does not necessarily have to be a gift you could send them a message and at the same time appreciate them on your wall. This creates influencers

    Step 3:
Create a promotion only for influencers
So say for example if you are selling a product create a digital gift card with a code. Each influencer is given the card along with a separate code that they could use. They will be out there propagating your offer to their friends and their family. In return this creates an interest since their friends and fans trust them.

If you are a service i guess the same does not apply but you could you could give influencers a free copy of the latest trends that are happening in your niche which they could share with their fans, followers, friends for free. This create momentum and allows you to gain popularity.

    Step 4:
    Leverage your existing networks

    – If you are new to social media then have your business card talk about your facebook fan Page
    – You could have this in your Email Signature
    – Have the Facebook icon on your website and blog so people could become your fan

These few tips and exercises could get you started. I shall be expanding the post further in the upcoming weeks.

Take care and love you guys . Muaaaaa you make my world rock.
