Google works on monetising Orkut in 2009

Google’s social networking platform, Orkut is in discussions with the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket to create brand positioning campaigns and even an IPL profile page for Orkut users. Mahesh Narayanan, senior industry manager, Google says around 10 entities, including FMCG, telecom and movie producers, will be the big-ticket advertisers for Orkut in 2009. Apple’s new Safari 4 beta is the first to challenge Google Chrome

Apple has announced the public beta of of Safari 4 and claims it to be the world's fastest and most innovative web browser for Mac and Windows PCs. The new JavaScript engine, Nitro, runs JavaScript 4.2 times faster than Safari 3, and up to 30 times faster than IE 7. Music search engine SeeqPod sued by Music Record Companies

EMI and Capitol Records are filing suit against music search engine SeeqPod. EMI and Capitol are, targeting individual employees and investors, in addition to the company itself, for monetary damages. The suit lists its chief executive, Kasian Franks, and backers Raf Podowski and Shekhar Lodha as individuals. The record companies are seeking billions of dollars in damages and hope to send a strong message to profiting companies from music sharing services that they consider to be illegal. Google to Join EU case against Microsoft with context to Web Browsers

This is not the first time Google and Microsoft have battled with each other on antitrust issues.
