Will Obama be Google’s Downfall?

Christine A. Varney is an American lawyer lobbyist, and internet policy expert. She has now joined Barack Obama’s team to take over the top antitrust job at the Department of Justice. Varney is reported to have said “For me, Microsoft is so last century. They are not the problem”. Google, she suggested, “has acquired a monopoly in internet online advertising”.So will Google face a deeper antitrust investigation? It seems almost certain. Varney’s background as a lawyer for Netscape in its case against Microsoft have led to speculation that the Department of Justice could be ready for an antitrust case that could create a few issues for Google like the same way that Microsoft was affected in the late 90s.
