Websites Declare War on IE 6

Several large websites in Norway, Sweden, Indonesia and Australia have launched a campaign urging Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 users to upgrade their outdated web browsers. Websites have got banners that urge users with IE6 to ditch the browser and upgrade to Internet Explorer 7. In a post by Joe Levi, he wrote about how to scare IE users into upgrading and the beauty of it is that its just one line of code. –

Also an international wiki has been setup to track the progress.

Google is also trying to push IE6 away. The latest attempt made is When you open Google’s email service in IE6, there’s a red link along the top that reads “Get faster Gmail with a faster browser” and points the user to download IE7. Its surprising that Google didn’t recommend to install Firefox or Chrome.
