Apple’s new Safari 4 beta is the first to challenge Google Chrome
Apple has announced the public beta of of Safari 4 and claims it to be the world's fastest and most innovative web browser for Mac and Windows PCs. The new JavaScript engine, Nitro, runs JavaScript 4.2 times faster than Safari 3, and up to 30 times faster than IE 7. EMI and Capitol Records are filing suit against music search engine SeeqPod. EMI and Capitol are, targeting individual employees and investors, in addition to the company itself, for monetary damages. The suit lists its chief executive, Kasian Franks, and backers Raf Podowski and Shekhar Lodha as individuals. The record companies are seeking billions of dollars in damages and hope to send a strong message to profiting companies from music sharing services that they consider to be illegal. Google to Join EU case against Microsoft with context to Web Browsers
This is not the first time Google and Microsoft have battled with each other on antitrust issues. The Web search engine Google, which recently released its Chrome Web browser, announced that it is applying to be a "third party" in the European proceedings. The European Commission has sent a statement of objections to Microsoft about tying Internet Explorer to the Windows operating system, which "harms competition between web browsers".
